The rule
-
Special combo
If the parents form one of the 81 special combos, that child hatches. Nothing else is checked.
-
Same species
Two Pals of the same species hatch that species.
-
Breeding power: Parent Kitsun Noct 800, Parent Felbat 1570, Child Bulldosu 1190. Breeding power
Otherwise the egg is the pool Pal nearest the parents' average breeding power. A tie goes to the higher breeding priority.
Details: the formula
midpoint = floor((power A + power B + 1) / 2) child = breeding-pool Pal with the smallest |power - midpoint| tie = higher breeding priority wins
How we know Datamined codeDerived from the game code, not from a data table.
This rule gives the same child as every row of the 4 breeding tables we test against (results).
Those tables likely share one reading of the game code, so in-game hatches matter more: 6 of 7 reports fit.
Try it on the breeding power line
Pick two Pals to see both on the full scale (20 to 3,100) and the pool Pals nearest the midpoint. The example, Kitsun Noct + Felbat, is a tie.
Rarer, strongerMore common
Breeding power 800 and 1570 give a midpoint of 1185. The nearest Pal in the breeding pool is Bulldosu at 1190, 5 away.
That is a tie with Wistella (1180). The higher breeding priority wins: Bulldosu has 119,000, Wistella has 118,000.

- 0 or 5
A lower breeding power means a rarer Pal. The game files call it CombiRank.
Two common parents land near the common end, so you need at least one rare parent to reach the rare end.
Game dataRead directly from the game data tables. Every breeding power in the current data is a multiple of 10, so the "+1" in the midpoint never changes a result.
Ties decide 31% of breeding power pairs
- Tied pairs
- 12,844
- Pairs decided by power
- 41,248
A midpoint that ends in 5 can sit exactly between two pool Pals. The game then hatches the Pal with the higher breeding priority.
That priority is breeding power times 100 for every pool Pal, so the more common of the two always wins.

Special combos come first
81 fixed pairs always hatch one particular Pal. Apart from mutations, those children hatch only from their combo or from two of themselves.
A skipped neighbour
Anubis (480) + Beakon (1690) has a midpoint of 1085. Broncherry Aqua (1080) is closer but is a special-combo child, so the egg is Relaxaurus (1090).
See all of them on the special combos list.
Gender
Game dataRead directly from the game data tables. Every pair needs one male and one female. Only one pair of species changes its child with the parents' genders:

Cakes and mutations do not change breeding power

No cake shifts the midpoint, so the species stays the same. Cakes change the egg count, stats, passives and mutation chance (breeding cakes).
A mutated egg hatches a Pal picked by a different formula. It can be a Pal this pair never gives otherwise.
